For info, this site has been created for the descendants of JAMES ALFRED SMITH who, according to some research, travelled from Liverpool England, into the Pacific. He met his wife in Kiribati - ( formerly the Gilbert and Ellis Islands) and married in 1899. From this marriage, there were seven children and quite a few followons from there as anyone who has been slightly involved with this family would know!
Recently there has been discussions about a family reunion which would be quite an interesting, exciting event.
To make this possible, any family who can positively identify themselves as a descendant of the union in 1899 between the late James and Baia Smith is most welcome to post their stories and photos onto this page.
As an introduction, I am Howard Smith the son of William Smith who was a grandson (one of many) of James and Baia. Me, my sisters and a cousin - Walter Smith live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and the subject of this reunion has been an interest for us, so we decided this would be a start. An attempt to generate and expand the interest from general discussions to the formation of units in your different countries who come together occasionally, as we do, to discuss and produce the tree formed by the generations after that first union way back in 1899! Along with the family discussions, dates and places where a grand reunion may take place have to be considered.
Well, I hope this generates some interest and movement toward this aim.
