Kona Mauri / Hello !!! ……I would like to commend Howard for his effort in initiating the ‘pacific smith’
blog. We now have a forum where we can “meet” and introduce ourselves and identify our line of decendency from the 1899 union.
The formation of the family tree has been started by the Brisbane unit and is well past the beginning stage. To date there has been more than 500 names entered into the programme ------ which is only the tip off the iceberg. If any of you have information on your line of decendents , please pass it on to us so that we can get this tree growing. Send information to ..isalmb@hotmail.com
This is Walter Smith a 3rd generation offspring of James Alfred and Paia Smith . I am a branch of Robert and Margarita Smith whose son James ( Jimmy ) was my father. My grandfather Robert died at the age of 35yrs leaving behind 9 siblings in the care of my father who was the eldest son at 18.
I am married to Margaret and we have 2 sons and 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren with another due in August 2007.

Congratulaitions to all who attended the Brisbane meeting and thank you for getting this long awaited reunion rolling.

I'm Julia Martens, daughter of Tui and Lalai Smith. Dad is Richard Augustus Julias, what a mouthful! The names of a king and Roman rulers, than is given the nickname, Tui..He was a character like the rest of the family.

Lawrence is my eldest brother and Anne the youngest. Between us we have 12 children and 5 or six grandkids. Anne's the one with the most kids. I have three beautiful daughters, Natasha 30, Chantal 27 and Veronica 20, and two grandsons, Chantals, Conrad 3 and Michale 2.I was married to a Australian German, Peter. I hope to be able to send you a photo of all of us. Christmas will be a good time.

Will keep you posted. Once again Congratulaitions to Howard and all those who have given of their time to organise this important event for the Smith Clan. Thank you

Nearly Christmas already!

We have had a fun year (mostly) in getting together and discussing the family reunion.

You would have heard that after several discussions about the venue, we finally decided at our last meeting in October, on having it at the Gold Coast, Queensland.

For sentimental reasons we had discussed Fiji or Kiribati as preferred locations but realised that coordination and logistics would be difficult for us from here. The venue we are looking at is capable of holding more than a hundred people at very reasonable rates, and we will be the sole occupiers for the planned four nights in September 08. The facilities and meals are all included and reportedly of a high standard.

When the time comes, it will be necessary to have those people interested in this occasion register their family so we can have numbers early enough to carry on organising the event. So when we call for it early in 2008, please don't waste time with it.

Of course, this will be the first of many reunions. In September at some stage the venue for the next one will be voted on and the people of the country we decide on will have the responsibility of organising the next get together. Speaking of get togethers, the feedback from the Sydney and New Zealand mob has been a bit light on!

Well, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you all and hopefully the communication lines will open up over Christmas so that we have a two way flow!

Hi Julia, good to see you on the 'blog'. Just wondered if you remembered I had mentioned to you that the Sydneysiders are having a meeting on the 27th January 2008? If Lenny or Netia is reading this maybe they can forward the details of where and time please? Maybe you would want to just paste it to the blog so others may see it?

It would be really good to have the chance for a bit of catch up with you - been ages.

Take care and lolomas to all ...

Hi family, the last day of 2007 today, so just wanted to touch base with those of you who do come on to this site.

Next month about 10 of us will be going to Sydney to attend the meeting of the NSW Smiths, hopefully it will be a good meeting well represented by all the families. If anyone needs to find out info about this you can contact Lenny Smith NJnr, Netia Muller or Allyson Campbell, any of them should be able to point you in the right direction. Venue and time still to be advised by the NSW gang. If it's easier to contact me then please, feel free to do that.

Well, another year comes to a close and for me it was strange having Christmas but no mum with us - I guess they were all busy getting the lovo made and throwing away the bottle corks - can you imagine what it must be like where all our parents have gone?? Bless their souls.

From me and my family, I send our best wishes for a really truly happy and prosperous 2008. Be safe, and let's try to keep in touch more often.

Loloma levu yani,
Moira
